About the role
The role is part of the Environmental Sustainability team on the Skye Reinforcement Project and will support the delivery of environmental sustainability activities on a significant construction project, across a wide variety of environmental aspects that is unique to this infrastructure project.
The role combines hands-on operational delivery with influence on a construction project in a exceptional geographical area.
What you'll be doing
- Managing environmental risks & opportunities by providing on-site advice to operations and design teams on environmental management, compliance and project specific mitigation measures including pollution control and ecological and archaeological protection.
- Produce and update environmental management plans, environmental risk assessments and site information packs.
- Ensure compliance with legal, contractual, and ISO14001 requirements,
including directing and supporting project teams in the preparation of consents, licences, and permits.
- Environmental data collection, validation and analysis
- Providing technical advice via various mediums and to a variety of audiences
- Conduct inspections, audits, and reviews; facilitate external audits; and report findings to the Project Team.
- Environmental guidance & training by delivering environmental training, toolbox talks and undertake onsite coaching
- Investigating environmental incidents
Who we're looking for
- Full driving license and flexibility to travel
- Educated to degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent competence and experience in Environmental Science or Environmental Management or other applicable disciplines.
- Affiliation/membership level of a relevant professional body
(IEMA/CIEEM/CIWEM) or ability to demonstrate equivalent experience and competence.
- Good knowledge of environment management and sustainable development, with the relevant experience working in a
construction environment and/or other operational-focused
environment desirable.
- Practical experience and knowledge of environmental statutory requirements, including environmental legislation & regulation, ISO14001, pollution prevention and wider environmental good practice.
- Ability to work within multi-disciplinary teams and support
embedding environmental sustainability into project delivery.
