12 Month Fixed Term Contract

Terumo BCT Ltd - located in Larne - manufactures a range of sterile pharmaceutical solutions for human use.

A vacancy currently exists for a Temporary Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Advisor. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the EHS Manager in delivering the site EHS improvement program. The role will provide hands on support across risk management, training, compliance, audits, incident investigation, and environmental initiatives, including the site Carbon Net Zero plan. Working closely with cross functional teams, the postholder will help drive continual improvement, ensure regulatory and ISO compliance, and promote a strong EHS culture across the organisation, deputising for the EHS Manager when required.

Duties
  • Acting as client H&S representative for CDM projects
  • Monitor compliance with CDM Regs
  • Support teams in completing/reviewing risk assessment and other hazard identification
  • Collaborate with teams to source engineering controls identified in risk assessments
  • Complete site inspections and audits with clear reporting mechanisms
  • Overseeing completion of all identified HS actions for improvement
  • Providingpracticaladviceduringallprojectstages.
  • Mentoring teams on H&S good practices
  • Promoting a strong, visible health and safety culture through regular site engagement, visible H&S leadership and effective communication with all project stakeholders.
  • Integrate into project teams to ensure "Safety in Design" principles early within the design and planning stages of projects.
  • Advise on contractor risk assessments, pre-construction and CPP, pre-start reviews and risk workshops.
  • Support teams in completing/reviewing risk assessment and other hazard identification with departmental teams
  • Coordinate, manage and deliver H&S related training, (manual handling training, awareness sessions, risk assessment, environmental awareness, inductions
  • Assist teams in completing PUWER assessments
  • Assist teams in completing/reviewing COSHH assessments
  • Drive EHS continual improvement initiatives with cross functional teams
  • Deliver H&S related training, EHS inductions and tool box talks
  • Communication of safety initiatives/notices/alerts
  • Support emergency planning and emergency incidents
  • Research and specify PPE and other H&S equipmentDevelop EHS work instructions
  • ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 compliance,
  • Incident management and reporting,
  • Training administration,
  • Environmental responsibilities (including Carbon Net Zero),
  • EHS performance monitoring and analytics,
  • Committee participation and emergency preparedness.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Any other duties as may be reasonably required by your manager from time to time
  • Work as team member with peers and other levels within entire organisation and with external peers
  • Deputise for EHS Manager as and when required
Criteria
  • Proven and demonstrated experience in a EHS role, preferably in a pharmaceutical, food manufacturing, or manufacturing environment
  • Good knowledge of all current Health and Safety regulations
  • NEBOSH National General Certificate or higher
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office
  • Excellent knowledge of UK/NI EHS legislation/best practice
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Adaptable, flexible and able to work with minimum supervision and prioritise tasks
  • Able to build positive relationships at all levels
  • Able to work on own initiative

  • This is an on-site based role Monday to Friday
