Senior Ecologist

Job Description Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Develop ecological assessments and habitat design for development and nature recovery projects.
• Design innovative and pragmatic ecological mitigation and compensation strategies.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and engage stakeholders and clients.
• Deliver clear, high quality ecological reports and documents in line with current guidance and best practice.
• Act as the ecological lead on projects, managing task and project delivery from bid to completion.

Qualifications

• Passion for ecology and strong working knowledge of the natural environment and wildlife legislation.
• Experience with UKHab surveys, Preliminary Ecological Assessment, Ecological Impact Assessment, and Biodiversity Net Gain assessments.
• Strong botanical skills, including a Field Identification Skills Certificate (FISC) level3+ or equivalent demonstrable ability.
• Experience in protected species survey, mitigation and licensing.
• Ability to manage ecology deliverables and projects through bidding to completion, maintaining client relationships.
• Membership of CIEEM or equivalent professional body.
• Full driving licence.

Security Clearance

This role may require a UK security clearance. If necessary, the clearing process will be discussed during interview and may require proof of UK residency of five years or longer.
