Marine Quantitative Ecologist: Benthic Imaging & AI

National Oceanography Centre in Southampton seeks a Research Scientist-Quantitative Benthic Ecology to advance image-based benthic monitoring. The role integrates quantitative ecology with marine photography, applying species distribution modelling and AI to extract biodiversity data from seafloor imagery.

You will contribute to NERC-funded projects, design papers and software, analyze datasets, and participate in expeditions and workshops while developing new research proposals.
