AtkinsRéalis is seeking a pro active and enthusiastic Geo Environmental Consultant to join our award winning Contaminated Land & Hydrogeology team within the Sustainable Land and Resource Management Practice. Based in our Bristol office (other locations may also be available), with flexible hybrid working, you will be part of an award winning group of contaminated land experts delivering innovative brownfield solutions to major UK infrastructure projects, across the transportation, energy, buildings, places and water markets. Responsibilities

Your role involves the organisation, collation and assessment of desk based information for Phase1 Contaminated Land Desk Studies, design of Phase2 site investigations (including organising, supervising and undertaking environmental/geo environmental site investigation and monitoring scopes), regular site based work such as contractor supervision, soil sampling and logging, environmental monitoring/sampling and supporting others on site, compliance with Health and Safety policies and procedures (preparing H&S Plans and managing health and safety on site), preparation and delivery of factual and interpretative reporting, digital data management, development of conceptual site models, qualitative and quantitative risk assessments for human health and the water environment, hydrogeological modelling, Environmental Impact Assessments, support with remediation design, implementation and verification, development of own competence and CPD, and management of own work including supporting senior management to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and to quality and client expectations.

Qualifications
  • Degree qualified in a relevant engineering or science subject (geology, geography, hydrogeology, chemistry, earth sciences, environmental science).
  • Working towards Chartered Membership of a relevant professional body.
  • Relevant post graduate experience (ideally within a consultancy environment) with a track record in delivering work on time, on budget and to quality and client expectations.
  • Demonstrable understanding of land contamination/brownfield land issues, codes of practice and industry standards.
  • Experience in site based work: soil and rock logging, soil/gas/vapour/leachate/groundwater and surface water monitoring/sampling, and supervising contractors on trial pitting and drilling activities on brownfield sites.
  • Familiarity with fulfilling Principal Contractor duties under CDM Regulations2015.
  • Good organisational skills and willingness to undertake outdoor work in all weathers alongside desk based tasks.
  • Keen team player, eager to learn and make a difference, willing to travel and work across the UK, and experienced with gas and electricity infrastructure distribution/transmission sites.
  • Additional specialist skills in hydrogeological modelling, EIA, environmental permitting, waste and materials management are particularly welcomed.
  • Experience with geospatial data (GIS) using QGIS or ArcGIS.

  • This role may require security clearance. Offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. The vetting process is delivered by UKSV and may require proof of UK residency of 5years or longer.
