Are you an Environment Manager, Environmental Consultant or experienced environmental specialist looking to broaden your experience within a client-side position on a major UK infrastructure programme?

This is an excellent opportunity to support the environmental assurance, technical handover and completion of major tunnels, bridges, viaducts and large-scale landscape restoration works.

Working alongside the Senior Environment Manager, you will review contractor submissions, undertake assurance visits and ensure environmental commitments and agreed mitigation measures have been delivered to the required standard.

The position will have a particular focus on landscape establishment, ecological mitigation and the environmental sign-off of major infrastructure assets. However, this is a broad environmental role, and candidates from specialist backgrounds including ecology, air quality, noise, water, carbon or environmental planning will be considered.

This is a permanent opportunity offering long-term progression across a nationally significant infrastructure programme, with excellent scope to broaden your technical knowledge and develop towards a Senior Environment Manager position.

The Role:

Providing client-side environmental assurance across major infrastructure and landscape works
Reviewing contractor submissions, technical documentation and assurance evidence
Supporting environmental stage gates and the technical handover of major assets
Monitoring landscape establishment, habitat creation and ecological mitigation
Undertaking environmental assurance visits approximately once per week
Challenging the contractor where commitments or mitigation measures have not been met
Supporting the management and close-out of environmental early warnings
Identifying environmental risks and supporting practical, proportionate solutions
Liaising with contractors, engineers, technical specialists and external stakeholders
Hybrid working, typically three days across the office and site with two days from home

The Person:

Environmental experience within construction, infrastructure, consultancy or a regulatory organisation
Good understanding of UK environmental legislation and environmental management
Experience reviewing environmental documentation, compliance or contractor performance
Confident challenging contractors and dealing with potentially difficult stakeholders
Able to communicate technical information clearly and concisely
Broad environmental knowledge or substantial experience within a relevant specialism
Landscape, ecology, habitat creation or environmental restoration experience would be beneficial
Full UK driving licence
